On December 3, my now husband and I started talking over Instagram. On December 7, we went on our first date. Christmas was right around the corner, and we were only just to getting to know each other.

Would we get each other a gift?

I talked it over with my mom and sisters. The best idea we could come up with was that I should get a small gift. If he gave me something, I would give him the small gift. If he didn’t get me anything, it wouldn’t be a big deal, and I’d keep the gift for myself.

I just had to hope that he didn’t get me anything too good.
