Am I Still Able To Be Around Babies?

Babysitting prepared me in a way I never could’ve predicted.

I have always loved babies and children. I have always wanted to be a mom. As a kid, I could play for hours by myself with dolls and stuffed animals. I’d shove them up my shirt to pretend that I was pregnant. When I was in a dance class at four years old, we had a practice recital. My mom always tells me that instead of dancing I just stood there staring at one of the dancer’s baby sibling with all the adoration in the world in my eyes. As I grew up, nothing really changed.

As soon as I was able to convince my next door neighbor to let me babysit her two- and four-year-old, I began to babysit any chance I got. I was only eleven then.

I made a lot of money as a kid, but back then, I didn’t care about money. I just wanted to love on little children. I called it my hobby but never my job.

As I grew up, I never tried out any other job. I always picked up babysitting jobs, and I continued to make more and more money that way. When I needed a full-time job at eighteen, it only made sense for me to become a full-time nanny.

I always believed my experience with ages three days old to thirteen years old was teaching me…
