If life was too easy, what would we need God for?

There’s a lot going on in the world. There’s the war between Ukraine and Russia, and it is heartbreaking to see Ukraine having to deal with all of this madness. There’s the terrible inflation and rise in gas prices that only seem to be getting worse every second. With all that is going on around us, it always seem that there is something going on in our personal lives as well.

The big and little things can really start to add up, and it gets overwhelming at times.

Whatever it is you may be feeling (even if you’re feeling great), the Bible is the ultimate tool in dealing with this life. I hope that at least one of these verses speaks to you.

War

“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.” — Matthew 24:6–7

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33

“A time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace.” — Ecclesiastes 3:8

Comfort

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” — Revelations 21:4

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” — Romans 8:18

“More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope…” — Romans 5:3–4

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” — 2 Corinthians 4:16

Understanding the Word

God never ever promised life on Earth to be easy. In fact, throughout the Bible, we are told quite the opposite. In the verse I shared above from Romans, we aren’t just supposed endure trials but rejoice in them.

Trials make us stronger in faith and in mind. If life was too easy, what would we need God for?

We must stand strong in our faith through these uneasy and frustrating times. One day, our sufferings will be completely gone, and instead, we will be living in eternal paradise.
