I can’t say it enough, but I love being a blogger. I really feel so blessed that I am able to write about my life, and connect with people all over. Writing for Medium was one of my best choices as a writer. I love how big of a platform it is. It’s full of various topics and writing styles. Anyone and everyone can write on here, and you can write about whatever you want.

Just like with any job, there are always some challenges. Since I am a smaller writer, I am lucky to not have very many right now. My biggest challenge is being able to come up with three blogs a week. As a small creator, it is incredibly important to put content out as much as possible.

I write about any and everything about my life. Sometimes, I write about my opinions, and other times, I write about what specifically is going on in my life. There are some weeks my life isn’t that exciting, and other weeks, I believe that I have written about every noncontroversial opinion I have. However, every week, I always find three things to write about.

Here’s how I do it.

My Method for Brainstorming

I am not into outlines or writing out multiple drafts. I am a very chaotic brainstormer.

Throughout the week, I am constantly thinking about my writing. Whenever I think of an idea, I hurry and write it down in my notes on my phone. Some topics are written about immediately. Some stay in my notes for months. While others, I erase soon after and wonder why I even thought it was a good idea in the first place.

There are some weeks that I go back through, and I hate all of the topics in my list. This means I need to consciously sit and think of three blogs for the upcoming week.

To get my mind moving, I go back through and read through titles of old blogs on here and my old website. I think of every possible thing going on in my life. I think of things that have happened in my past. I think of things that I want to happen. I think of things I have been working on. I think of EVERYTHING.

Usually, I can think of at least two topics for the week when I do this.

My Method for Organizing

After I come up with three topics for the week, I decide which one I believe is the best topic. The best topic is the one I will meter. I do not meter all of my writing, because I want people to have free access to majority of my writing. I am more focused on building my audience than on trying to make money.

Once I have chosen my best topic, I look at my week ahead. I like to write my entire blog in one sitting. If I have a busier week, I have to decide which blogs will be the quickest for me to write, and which days I will have more time to write the harder blogs.

I will use this week as an example of how I get organized for the week ahead.

I am living in a camper temporarily with my husband. So, I have to go to the local library for WiFi. They are open Monday-Friday.

This week my husband has Monday and Friday off. On Monday, we celebrated his birthday. So on Tuesday, I knew I would need to write and post a blog in the same day. Usually, I like to write the blog one day, and the next day, I proofread and post it. This week I don’t have that luxury. I will also have to write and post a blog on Wednesday (today) and Thursday. That way I can enjoy my husband’s day off with him.

On Tuesday, I had to write a funny blog about my husband in honor of it being his birthday. Today, I am FaceTiming a friend around one, and I usually get to the library around eleven. I decided to write this blog, because it’s not hard to write about writing. On Thursday, I will write a Christian blog, and I will have most of the day to focus on writing it.

Every week is a little different, but my thinking process is always the same. Writing multiple blogs a week involves thinking ahead. Otherwise, it gets to rushed and stressful.

Final Words

My favorite part of writing is writing. Once I have all of my blogs lined up for the week that’s the easy part for me. It’s usually very easy for me to come up with words as long as I have my topic to focus on.

I feel like other writers are much more organized than I am. So, if you think your way of brainstorming and organizing is good, please comment how you do it down below. I love hearing other people’s methods!

I also want to take a second to tell you all thank you so much for reading my writing. I am always thinking of what I can write about that people would want to read, and I love seeing my numbers go up.

I’m sure many of you know, but I need a hundred followers to stay on Medium’s Partner Program to get paid as a writer. If you even kind of like my writing, please consider following. I won’t force you to read my stuff, but your follow helps me to keep pushing for my dream career as a blogger.
