I can’t tell you how many times my best friend in California and my older sister told me to read books from my phone or a Kindle.

For years, my response was, “EWW!! Absolutely not!! I read to get off of a screen.” I’d also yank out my “writer card” and say, “I read and write all day long on my computer. Why would I want to get on another screen to read even more?” It was always an absolute no.

I got more involved on Medium. There was a point that I posted 5x a week, and my daily reading goal was THIRTY articles a day. My reading slowed wayyyyy down.

Then, I realized that all of my efforts weren’t doing much besides burning me out. So, I slowed down on Medium, but I couldn’t seem to get myself back to reading.

I had read majority of the books on my bookshelf. I never knew when to read. I bought a book light to read while my husband slept next to me at night. But I cringed every time I turned the page, and the light was almost as bright as the sun.

I needed more books, and I needed a more convenient way to read them at night.
