I am guilty of leaving generic comments sometimes. I read articles that go way over my head, but I still really want to support the writer. So, I take the time to comment. I see it as showing them that I read their article.

I have never minded getting them myself. Some people just don't know what to say, and I will take their comment happily.

I get your point though! I just wanted to share the way I see them!
