I encouraged people to be friends with people of all beliefs that was the entire point of this message. I said open your arms to EVERYONE, but people who hurt you/others, don't want what's best for you, etc. can be closed off. But yes, I also do encourage people to be friends with Christians and like-minded people on top of those other friends. I'd argue that with any group of people. If you're writer, it's good to have writer friends that can encourage you. If you are liberal or conservative, it is good to have likeminded people in your life. Throughout the Bible, we are told the importance of fellowshipping with sisters and brothers in Christ. That's another reason going to church is so important.
I also don't see a problem with one wholeheartedly believing in their religion. If one is a Muslim, why isn't it okay for them to say their religion is the right one and that they go by everything in the Quran? Same with Christianity fully believing in the Bible and what it says about God and Jesus?
Jesus didn't say that about Judaism though. He did say, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6) I choose to believe that with my entire life, and I am not saying anyone has to. I am a Christian writer. So, a lot of my Christian-based articles will be based on what I have read in the Bible.
I'm not saying that you or others can't have different beliefs. That's fine. It is your own personal choice. However, I do choose to go by the Bible and by everything it says. Jesus did open his arms up to all kinds of people with all kinds of beliefs, which is exactly what I am encouraging. The main point being that if someone doesn't deserve to be in your life don't let them be just because you are a Christian.
I hope this made sense and showed my perspective a little more. 🤍
