I Hate Certain Things About Myself But I Don’t Hate Myself
My Journey to Confidence
By Grace K. Bianco
Your flaws may differ from mine, but so does your list of little perfections.
There is always going to be something about ourselves that we won’t like. Too often, we make those few things define who we are. I understand that as our bodies change we may have a hard time of letting go what there once was, but it’s a part of life. It is how we were designed.
The pressure for perfection starts young, and I feel as time goes on… Kids will only become more pressured younger and younger. Yet, confidence doesn’t just magically appear with growing up. For many, it seems even further away.
“With social media taking over the world, standards for both boys and girls seem to continue to fly through the roof. Even back in 2012 and 2013 when I was just a seventh grader, I had to battle low self-esteem caused by the pressure from the world around us. Social media was only just becoming prominent.” — Chapter 9: Seventh Grade: A Curveless Preteen from my book “Party Pooper: Growing up with Anxiety” (Available on Amazon)
This is my journey. Everyone’s look different from each other’s, but I hope you can take bits and pieces of mine to help with your own.
