I Have Never Been Drunk

My Reasons for Choosing a More Sober Life

At seventeen, a friend told me to taste her whiskey sprite concoction in our high school parking lot. I took the tiniest sip humanly possible, and it was plenty to realize how DISGUSTING it was. That was my first taste of alcohol ever.

At twenty, I drank half of a white claw, and that’s when I began drinking in moderation.

Now, at twenty-four, I still have yet to get drunk. I don’t plan on changing this ever. I have very specific reasons for this, and I only become firmer in them with age.

My first is beyond obvious… I am a Christian.

When I was in middle/high school. I thought all drinking was sinful. I never planned on drinking any alcohol ever.

As I grew up, I realized even the Bible wasn’t completely against drinking.

“So, I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.” — Ecclesiastes 8:15 NIV
