I have to disagree. Throughout the Bible, God says that He is one and only true God. When He says, “You shall have no other gods before me.” He means worshipping false idols. Throughout the Old Testament, people would worship gold calves. The story of Elijah disproving Baal is in the Bible to show that there is only one God. In more modern times, it would be the world that people worship. For example, people chase after money and fame much more now.

While being a Christian isn’t about religion but rather a relationship, the New Testament tells us that there are in fact expectations that God has for us.
