I Just Need To Escape To One Of My Happy Places
A Fun & Lighthearted Anxiety Coping Mechanism
By Grace K. Bianco
Whatever your happy place is… I hope it is one full of love.
After reading one of Jan Sebastian’s recent articles about her own happy place, it made me reflect on some of my own. (Read her article here).
My reflection made me realize how great of a tool they really can be. I have a lot of happy places. Some are physical, and others are just mental.
If you are like me and you get lost in your own mind, it can be helpful to have an “escape.” A happy place is a healthy way of “running away” from your negative feelings and thoughts. I talk a lot about coping with anxiety, and this is a GREAT mechanism.
My Physical Happy Places
Physical happy places are the best at distracting yourself during the day time.
I think of them as actual places, not so much hobbies or passions. They are distractions from regular life. Sometimes, they can be a safe place to “shield” you from the world.
