I once stole bird eggs from a bird's nest when I was elementary school age. I just wanted a pet baby bird. I felt awful about it later (especially when they didn't hatch). I woke my dad up in the middle of the night crying, because I felt so bad. They are tough lessons for a child to learn, but those that experience these lessons usually grow up with a gentler heart towards animals.
