I Picked Out My Own Engagement Ring
There’s a lot of pressure on a ring that you have to wear for forever.

This past weekend was my sister’s wedding, and with any wedding, I was shot back down memory lane with mine and my husband’s own story. Looking at my sister’s rings, I started thinking about my own.
Most people have a unique and special ring story. Even if there are no rings at all, there is usually a story behind it.
I knew someone with a tattooed ring on his finger, and now, he is no longer with his wife anymore. My oldest sister got her rings from my grandmother, my dad’s mom. My grandmother just happened to have some really nice diamond silver rings that she didn’t want anymore. My other sister, who just got married, was given family heirloom rings from her husband’s side. They are from the early 20th century.
My husband and I can be a little more on the particular side (especially my husband). There was no family ring, and even if there was, I can’t 100% say we would have used it. If it wasn’t close to our style, my husband would have had no problem turning it down.
His motto was that I would wear it for the rest of my life, and he wanted me to absolutely love it.
