I Wanted To Cancel Thanksgiving This Year

(Except for the thankfulness part…)

With my husband’s job, Thanksgiving is sometimes a holiday that has to be missed with family. Holidays just aren’t the same without family. And with a holiday that I don’t enjoy that much, it’s hard to see the point in celebrating at all.

If we are being honest, I am not the biggest fan of Thanksgiving food. Being lactose intolerant, it’s hard enough to find anything to eat. Now that I am also gluten free, the challenge has really kicked up a notch.

People always feel bad, and all the attention gets put on me. It’s just not the attention that I am going for.

So, when we miss Thanksgiving, I shrug it off. I’d be fine skipping it entirely… Except that my husband LOVES Thanksgiving.

This year, I had the “brilliant” idea of going to a restaurant.

Cracker Barrel is a southern cooking restaurant that is big here in the South. However, there are many locations all over the US.
