Tales of a New Marriage

Grace Bianco here. I have been married for twenty-one days.

We started the morning off by waking up to my 8:30 alarm. I hurried to take a shower. We needed to be on our way for the five and half hour drive to Georgia. We had to make it to my husband’s coworker’s rehearsal dinner. (We will go to the wedding tomorrow.)

We packed up our things, and got in the car.

My husband always does the driving when we go on road trips. I sit happily in the passengers seat and navigate. I hate driving, but that’s a story for a different time.

Anyways, after we stopped for lunch, my husband told me it was my turn. For the next two and a half hours, I was not a happy driver. I had been on road trips with just one of my sisters and I. I have been on MANY road trips with my family. I don’t drive. The only time I would drive long distance was when my husband and I were long distance. It is not that I can’t or that I am scared of driving. In fact, I am an aggressive long distance driver. In other words, I can be the bully in the fast lane at times. I just don’t like driving for other reasons that I don’t want to get into right now.

At one point, we did stop to use the restroom, and my husband tried to take over. It was obvious I didn’t like being the driver, but I was already in the driver’s seat. So, I told him it was fine.

Soon after we got to the hotel, it was time for us to get ready to go to the rehearsal dinner. My husband realized he forgot some things, and we needed to make a quick trip to Walmart on the way. We were zooming around Walmart, and I was in four inch heels. My heel was rubbed raw. Those heels are not made for zooming.

We made it to the rehearsal dinner just a few minutes late. I met my husband’s coworker and his soon-to-be wife. I talked to one girl about what the process of writing a book was like, and how to put yourself out there as a writer. I am obviously no big writer, but I have dipped my toes into the water some. My audience is just small. For instance, these journal entries are mostly just read by my best friend, my sister, and my mom.

After the rehearsal dinner, we got back to the hotel. I turned on TLC, and 90 day Fiance was on. I had plenty to say throughout the entire episode.

We ended the night with both of us getting on our phones for a little bit. I was watching tiktoks when I came across a tiktok of a dog going back to a shelter. Its owners couldn’t take care of it anymore. The dog was panicking watching its owners leave him. I started crying. My husband rubbed my back, and I began cry laughing. Ever since I got on birth control, I cry over every dog video.

That was my day… How was yours??
