My Love & Hate Towards Other Writers
I’m sure you’re great, but I can’t help myself.
By Grace K. Bianco
Don’t let other people’s success make you lose your momentum, but use it as motivation.
Hate is a strong word. I really don’t hate anyone, especially people with the same dream as mine. However, there is that drop of the stomach feeling when I see another writer more successful than me.
Let me explain.
I find other writers so inspirational. I love seeing them succeed. I enjoy hearing their success. When bigger writers try to help smaller writers like me, I really appreciate what they are doing, and I find it all very helpful.
Almost every writer starts in my shoes. They have big dreams, but it isn’t always easy to make a viral post right away.
Yet, I can’t help but get discouraged at times. I watch my already very small numbers go up and down over and over. With each post, I am convinced, “This is the one.” Spoiler alert, no post of mine has been “the one” thus far, and I have been writing for almost three years now. Heck, I even wrote a book, and if you took one quick look at my audience, you’d think I started writing yesterday.
