My Mother’s Impact On Me
A parent has the power to change how you see yourself and the world.
By Grace K. Bianco
My mom shot down those thoughts so fast that I barely had time to hold onto them.
What kind of mom did you have?
My mom wasn’t always perfect, and she knows that. There isn’t a single parent that can be.
But I pray she knows that she came close. That although there were many imperfect moments… She still did a lot of things right.
I have always been a mommy’s girl. Trust me, I love my dad a lot too. But it was my mom I cried for as a scared little girl at school. It was my mom that I ran too when my feelings were hurt. It was my mom who defended me when someone did me wrong, and when I grew up to have a loud voice, I always had her back too. Our bond was and has always been different.
My mom is one of my best friends. And although I could write a book on our entire relationship and how amazing she is, there is just one thing that I want to focus on today.
How careful my mom was with ever talking about her self image.
