The world can be a dark place to live in. There are killings, illnesses, sex trafficking, etc. And while the rest of the world is turning against each other, there are others turning against themselves.
In America, suicide is a huge leading cause of death. It’s a killer that affects ALL ages. The numbers seem to be climbing higher and higher every day. (Read more facts about suicide in this CDC article.)
We can’t always say what makes a person commit suicide. The list of reasons varies from person to person, but I do believe there is a strong factor that is a motive for many… Social medias’ impossible standards.
The Constant Comparison
With unlimited access to social media, it is almost impossible to not compare yourself life to someone else’s. All day long, you scroll through people’s highs in life. You see perfect angles and smooth faces.
Everyone shares their happiest moments. One friend just got married to her soulmate. Another is having a baby. Someone else just got their dream job. One happy family is on vacation. A couple just bought their first house.
