Gaining Confidence in Being a Writer

When people ask you what you do for work? Do you tell them you’re a writer?

I have always been conflicted about telling people I am writer. The few people I would tell always asked about my income, and as many of us on here know, most of us aren’t making thousands or even hundreds every single month. Even when I wrote a book and thought that would help people take me more seriously, I still would get the question, “How much do/did you make from your book?”

I remember telling my mom that I tell people that I am just a housewife, and she didn’t like that answer. She knows how much effort and love I put into my writing. She was also very confused by people asking about my income, because no one asks others that. I told her there’s more curiosity with online work.

With a bigger following and more consistent money, I have finally started telling people I am writer when I am asked.

As I gain more and more confidence in my writing, I will tell just about anyone that I am a writer.

A few nights ago, I was so glad I did.
