This is such a good way to put it. I don't understand why it's okay to shame anyone for anything.
As someone with a mental illness, I am very careful with any kind of drug or alcohol. My husband's friend once told him that I needed to "smoke a big blunt to get over my anxiety." That comment hurt a lot. Because people with mental illnesses or trauma have a tendency to get carried away in search of "peace" and "relaxing." I drink maybe two drinks a month, and I have never tried weed.
It makes me sad when people get addicted, but I understand how easy it could be to get addicted. I am so glad you were able to get sober, and you can now help so many. That shows a lot of courage and strength. <3
