“Don’t marry a man who plays video games.” “Boys who play video games spend more time gaming than with you.” “They’d rather play all night than go to sleep with their wife.”
There are many stereotypes about male gamers (like the ones listed above), and for many men, they aren’t entirely wrong.
On the other hand, many have self-control. It really can be just a simple hobby like any other, not an addiction.
More people seem to have seen firsthand the stereotypical gamer more than a causal gamer. Naturally, non-gamers are usually on the more leery side of being with gamers. Trust me, I understand the hesitation better than anyone, but over time, my views have changed a lot.
For awhile, I was a huge believer in the stereotypes.
I grew up in a family that looked down upon them. My brothers hardly played. Two of my sisters found them to be red flags. My parents enforced this negative perspective towards them. I had no desire to play or be with someone…
