Just as you let the thunderstorms rain down, you will have to let yourself feel your emotions.

Explaining anxiety is something I think about all of the time. (I have been misunderstood a lot lol.) There are so many ways to try to get the message across. Anxiety is so complex though. It just isn’t a straightforward explanation.

One thing that can make anxiety so difficult is the repetitiveness and unexpectedness.

One second, your mind is a calm sea with gentle waves. The sky is bright blue and sunny. There’s a nice breeze. Everything feels okay, even normal.

The next second, clouds come in and hide all the blue. A huge storm starts pouring down. The waves begin to roar. You hear nothing but the loud crashing waves and booming thunder. The rain is so heavy that it feels like you might drown above ground.

Unfortunately, you didn’t have any time to prepare. You are left in the middle of the storm trying to get everything together. You start thinking back to moments before… “Were the gentle waves trying to tell me something? Were the few puffy clouds in the sky a warning of what was to come? What happened to the pretty day?”
