To this day, I have no fear of flying. From takeoff to landing, I am 100% at peace.

Flying is one of the few fears that I have completely overcome, but it took me ten years to do so.

As many of you know, I struggle with emetophobia, an extreme and irrational fear of throw-up. (Read more about that here.)

This fear has caused me to be fearful of car rides, airplanes, restaurants, and anywhere else I convinced myself that throw-up MIGHT present itself. As I have grown up, I have been able to go to more public places without panicking, but that wasn’t my reality for a while.

Airplanes always scared me for more than one reason. I am also very scared of heights.

Airplanes felt like a trap. There’s nowhere to run if someone starts to get sick, AND I am miles up in the sky. What could be worse?

My first ever flight was eight hours long!
