Why expect the bare minimum?

I had so many questions, and I was dumb enough to not ask a single one.

The 50 clap “rule” has been an ongoing debate here on Medium. I have read every view opinion possible.

If you give every article 50 claps, what happens when you find an article actually “deserving” of 50?

On the flipside, others see it as 0 or 50 claps. You should either give all or nothing. What’s the point in only giving 13?

I believe most writers give 50 claps, and the few that don’t leave writers questioning their work. 50 claps are the norm, and anything less feels more like a dislike.

Honestly, this isn’t even my first time writing about claps. (You can read my other article here.) This kind of debate is more enjoyable, because it’s really not that serious. I just enjoy hearing everyone’s opinion.

When I saw a writer ask for 20 claps, I decided it was time to write about claps again.
