My husband is on night shift this week, and as many of you know, I tend to struggle mentally during that time. Tonight will be night three of four.

My husband has been switching every two days between day and night shift all of December. This is the most intense that it has been. Fortunately, he will get four-five days off for Christmas.

Anyway, I have been sleeping through the night, and I haven’t felt as down as I usually do. Today, I am actually going out to get coffee with a friend, and that always helps me get through these stretches.

There has been one thing on my mind though… I feel so disconnected from my family back home.

I am not big into phone calls, and both my families aren’t big into them either.

I usually don’t think about it, but when my husband is hardly around, it seems to be the only thing on my mind.
